Publishing Opportunities in Business: Ownership of Your Work

Carefully read agreements before you sign them.  If you are not satisfied with the agreement, you can always renegotiate the terms or submit your work elsewhere. Some things to consider:

• Does the agreement allow you to reuse your own work for teaching and future scholarship?
• Does it allow for redistribution through open access outlets? (i.e. BU Digital Commons)
• Balance prestige of the publication against your academic rank and the terms of the contract.
