WorldCat Discovery is a searching tool for Butler Library resources.  I describe it as the "googlization" of the Library's online catalog and selected databases because you can search for ebooks; print books in our buildings' collections; and journal articles all at once!  While not all of the Library's 200 databases are included in this tool, roughly half of them are.

If you are only interested in books, in WorldCat Discovery, try these search strategies:

1.  Keyword Searches - looks for the occurrence of your word(s) in the catalog records.  The catalog search engine assumes an "AND" between the words, picking up any record that has the terms, not necessarily side-by-side.

To find materials on how gods are treated, are referenced to, described, etc. in literature, first do a keyword search such as.

Enter in the search box:  gods and literature

2.  Subject Searches - Books in our catalog are assigned Library of Congress Subject Headings, which describe the book's content.  Keep in mind that books, unlike articles, have multiple chapters that may or may not be indexed.  So, there may be a book on roman mythology, for example, that has a chapter on Aeneid but has been assigned the broader Subject Heading:  Mythology, Roman.  Here are some broader subject terms to search on:

Enter in the search box one of the following subject headings:
