What is the Learning Resource Center?

The Learning Resource Center is an extra support that is offered to Butler students for free. Through the Learning Resource Center students receive assistance in coordinating sites for services, programs, and other resources that help promote academic success. The Learning Resource Center is located in Jordan Hall 136. Students can visit the office if they wish to receive help in "developing a plan of action that promotes academic success, connect with tutoring resources available on campus, engaging with your course work in an active and effective manner, becoming an active academic advisee, and enhancing your learning strategies and techniques".

What does the Learning Resource Center Offer?

Group Tutoring

Butler Students can become involved in group tutoring sessions through the Learning Resource Center. These tutoring sessions are set at specific times and locations, but students who wish to participate can walk in and receive help during any of these meetings. The tutors are Butler students who have been chosen by faculty based on their performance in the subjects.

Individual Tutoring

Individualized tutoring is also available through the Learning Resource Center, but to receive this tutoring the student must have a recommendation from their course instructor. Individualized tutoring allows students to work one-on-one with a tutor in their subject area for about 1-2 sessions per week. Students must meet a list of criteria before they qulaify for individualized tutoring. To qualify for individualized tutoring the student must be: in attendance of all classes and labs, completing all assignments, working with the course instructor during office hours. If the student meets all of the above criteria they can then complete the online request for tutoring form found on the Learning Resource Center's webpage.
