    Why do we cite?

    By citing your sources, you:

    • allow your readers the opportunity to check your sources (giving your work more credibility)
    • give credit to the authors of your sources (avoiding plagiarism)
    • in cases of empirical-based research or analysis, helps to further knowledge

If you have not already looked at the Understanding Plagiarism Tutorial, please give it a try.  You may be surprised at what you learn!
