Reading LibGuide: Indianapolis Public Libraries

This guide gives great tips and suggestions for leisure reading resources at Butler University

Indianapolis Public Library for Butler Students

Can I get an Indianapolis Public Library card as a Butler student?

Yes! Butler students are eligible for a library card from the Indianapolis Public Library. You just need to show your Butler ID and a current piece of mail or bill showing your address on campus.

What does an Indianapolis Public Library account give me access to?

Plenty! You'll be able to check out books, music, and movies. Remember - public libraries serve a different purpose than academic ones, so their collections will be quite a bit different from ours! Additionally, you'll be able to access the Library's fantastic online collections of ebooks, audiobooks, and streaming music and video.

Can I visit the library?

Absolutely! The main library is located downtown (and it's gorgeous), but there are several branch locations you could visit as well.
