Details and background of this annual celebration

Celebration 2017

Hosted by Butler Libraries, the annual Celebration of Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity was held on November 15 in Irwin Library's Collaborative Learning Space. This annual event recognizes and celebrates faculty and staff research, scholarship, and creative contributions.

This year, a panel of faculty and student scholars shared the unique ways they are utilizing Digital Commons @ Butler, and the impact the repository is having on their scholarship. Panelists included:   

  • Professor Chad Bauman, Department of Philosophy, Religion, and Classics - using Digital Commons @ Butler for conference abstract submissions
  • Assistant Professor Susan Adamson, College of Education, Early/Middle Childhood Education - using the digital commons to distribute an OER resource
  • Dean Jay Howard, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences - how digital commons has assisted in his distribution of scholarship as well as LAS faculty's scholarship (a Dean's perspective)
  • Skyler Walker, College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences student and Editor-in-Chief for BU Well - using the Digital Commons @ Butler to distribute a student journal 

Following the panel discussion, the following faculty were recognized with certificates of accomplishment for having highly downloaded scholarship for the 2016-2017 academic year from within their colleges:
