Audition Repertoire compiled by Nolan Cardenas (JCA Music Student, 2017)

Orchestral Excerpts and Repertoire

Nolan Cardenas, Clarinet Performance Major, Butler University

After looking at multiple orchestral audition requirements and excerpts I have compiled a list of B-flat and A, E-flat, and Bass Clarinet excerpts.  The B-flat/A excerpts are organized in Frequently Asked, Occasionally Asked, and Uncommonly Asked excerpts. The Uncommonly Asked pieces are generally from lists that surprised me when I saw them and should only be prepared upon request.  Frequently Asked excerpts should be prepared and kept underneath the fingers constantly especially if you are currently looking for jobs in the orchestral field.  Other things that appeared on these lists where solo repertoire which most orchestral companies asked for Mozart Clarinet Concerto in A major. This format is based on Cecil Gold’s excerpt list.  I compared and contrasted some excerpts and added some more to this list.
