Creative Commons Search is a search engine for over a dozen Creative Commons friendly websites, including sites that have music, images, videos, and other media.
Humanities Commons
Humanities Commons offers a collection of articles, images, syllabi, music, literature, and other multimedia related to a variety of fields. Click on Find Open Access Materials to search for content. Do be sure to check the licensing of each piece, as the creators may reserve some of their rights.
Internet Archive
Internet Archive gives users access to video, text, audio, and software files, many of which are licensed under Creative Commons or are able to be used for scholarship and research purposes.
MERLOT
MERLOT offers a collection of multimedia materials in a variety of disciplines. Use the advanced search tool to find a resource or browse by discipline index.
National Archives
National Archives allows users to search through different history lessons, images, and other documents that are licensed under Crown Copyright. Because the resources are history related some collections are fairly old.
OER Commons
OER Commons is a collection of a variety of free, open materials. Search by subject, grade level, and standards.
Open Michigan
Open Michigan makes images, videos, text materials, and other multimedia content available through Creative Commons licenses.
Open Science Framework
Open Science Framework is an open-source, cloud-based project management system that allows global sharing and collaboration in the scientific community.
PHET Interactive Simulations
PHET Interactive Simulations offers free interactive math and science game-like simulations for various grade levels..
Wikimedia Commons
Wikimedia Commons provides freely usable images, sounds, and videos, organized by topic, location, type, author, license, and course.

Public Domain Resources

World Digital Library
World Digital Library, from the Library of Congress, offers historical maps, timelines, images, and texts.
