The Indiana Association of the Deaf (IAD) was founded in 1886 by Deaf people who were concerned that Deaf people were not included in the decision and policy making processes affecting their lives. Today, the IAD is a dynamic and growing organization with organizational affiliates, and direct members. The IAD serves as an advocate for more than 400,000 Deaf and Hard of Hearing Hoosiers, according to https://sphs.indiana.edu/clinics-and-services/deaf-community-resources/indiana-association-deaf.html
