This guide is meant to help you develop the skills and tools to accomplish your course objectives:

  1. To examine and reshape this long-accepted narrative of the early American period
  2. To examine the question: Whose revolution was it?
  3. To diverse perspectives of those who fought for revolution before, during, and after the War for Independence to help us understand the complexity and messiness of the early American period.
  4. To develop knowledge about historical moments, peoples, and places; and to appreciate the relationship between the past and the present.
  5. To continue development of expository writing skills.
