Citation Management Tools: Mendeley

This LibGuide contains information on various citation tools available to Butler students, staff, and faculty.

Mendeley at a Glance

Mendeley is a free reference manager that allows you to search citation styles, create bibliographies, as well as share and collaborate with other Mendeley users. 

Mendeley is free to register and download. 

  • Go to the homepage  and "create a free account"
  • Enter all of the necessary information
  • When you are on the Dashboard page, click "Download nad Update"
  • A prompt will show up for the download
  • Mendeley Desktop will now be downloaded onto your computer

To install the Mendeley plug-in to your browser, follow these simple steps

  • Drag the "Save to Mendeley" button up to your Bookmarks bar
  • Find an article on any Mendeley compatible website
  • Click on the "Save to Mendeley" button in your Bookmarks
  • Review the details provided on the right hand side of the page
  • Click "Save" and the article should appear in your "Recently Added" portion of Mendeley

  • Save an article or document to your Mendeley via the internet plug-in
  • Review the details and save to your Recently Added

OR

  • Upload a document from your computer to your Mendeley Library

With Mendeley you can cite any source that is downloaded on your computer or that is available to save through the plug-in. Such as...
