Podcast Hosting Sites
A WordPress blog is able to host smaller audio files. It is also an Apple-approved host if you would like to have your podcast listed in iTunes.
SoundCloud hosts podcasts and other audio files for free with certain restrictions including a limit on how much can be uploaded per month. A paid premium account is available if you would like to upload larger and more frequent podcasts.
Certain equipment for creating a podcast can be checked out at the front desk of Irwin Library, including:
- wireless microphones
- headset microphones
- PC laptops loaded with Audacity
- Mac laptops loaded with GarageBand and Audacity
In CAT (IL 303) a snowball microphone can be rented by faculty or with faculty permissions for a class. Email Megan Grady-Rutledge at email@example.com for more information on the procedure for this device.
When you're editing, make sure you give yourself enough time to go through all the raw files. Depending on the size of the project and the quality level you need to meet, editing can take up hours more than you have recorded. Don't be surprised by how much of a time investment cutting and splicing will really be.
