Projects Board

The Projects board gives an overview of everything happening in IC. Most importantly:

  • Announcements: With many shifts throughout the day and lots happening at any given moment, we've found it helpful to allow any member of our IC team to post news, reminders, and updates to the Announcements column.
  • Project & Instruction Facilitation: Since IC students assist staff with projects and instruction sessions, we use this Trello board to share and manage these operations. Trello allows us to recruit help, share materials, set deadlines, create checklists, and communicate via this board. It also has been a helpful way to organize and track this type of work.
  • Building Community: The IC Community column is a designated place to highlight IC student achievements and help students get to know each other better via fun activities and the weekly newsletter.

This board can fill up quickly during the busy times of the semester. We do our best to archive or move outdated content to the side as much as possible. To help our new hires from being overwhelmed, we typically ask them to only pay attention to the Announcements and Community columns until they complete their training.

Team Board

Students are hired into the Information Commons program at the assistant level. Student who show exceptional skill and leadership potential can be promoted to the rank of associate.

Associates are put in charge of a small team of assistants and tasked with mentoring them through IC's extensive Moodle training. Each associate is given a Trello board to facilitate their team.

Each assistant is given their own column. The first card is for daily updates and regular communication with their associate. Other cards in the column allow them to track their progress through the Moodle training in a way that will be visible to their associate.
