Butler Libraries Film Series: Home

Starting with the 2023-24 academic year, Butler Libraries will host a monthly movie night at Irwin Library. This year’s theme is Missing: Movies Unavailable On Streaming.

In a time when movies and TV shows routinely and inexplicably disappear from your favorite streaming services, owning physical media is an insurance policy against the future whims of big entertainment companies. Luckily, that’s what libraries do, and Butler Libraries owns many DVDs which have not just slipped from streaming subscription to streaming rental, but which have disappeared from all online services. For these films, in 2023 DVD is the only option, and we’ve got them.

Starting September 14th, join Butler Libraries for classic or underseen films no longer available in the streaming marketplace. All showings will be at 7:30 PM in the Irwin Library Instruction Lab, and popcorn and soda will be available. Screenings will be hosted by Butler Librarians, with discussion to follow. BCR and Honors credit available as well!
