WorldCat Discovery -- Finds ebooks, print books, and journal/magazine articles

One helpful way to search for books in WorldCat Discovery, is to identify Library of Congress Subject Headings that describe what you are looking for. Here are some subject headings related to the music/recording industry:

  • sound recording industry
  • sound recording industry -- law and legislation
  • digital audiotape recorders and recording
  • sound -- recording and reproducing -- digital techniques

Go up in the stacks and browse!

Call numbers tell you where a book is shelved.  It is the "address" of the book in the library.  In the Butler Libraries, we use Library of Congress Classification which groups titles by subject matter.

The following call number ranges are assigned to music and related topics related to the music industry.  Simply go to the floor that houses the call number ranges below, and you can just browse the shelves for books on the numbered topics.

ML 3790 - ML3792   Music trade
KF2932 - KF2933      Regulation of industry. Performing artists
KF2971 - KF3194      Intellectual property
KF4290 - KF4294      U.S. Law. The Arts. Entertainment Law.
PN1560 - PN1590    The Performing Arts. Show business
