Introduction to Indianapolis

Welcome to Indianapolis! 

Indianapolis is a great location for Butler University and its students. The city offers students a plethora of internships and other professional or academic opportunities. In addition to these rewarding experiences, when students aren't planning their future careers, the city has plenty to offer during your free time.

This guide provides information on some of what Indianapolis has to offer Butler students and their family members. Use the sections, located at the top of the page, to navigate the guide.

You may have seen shots of Indianapolis during NCAA coverage, Colts games, the Indianapolis 500 or other racing events at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the HGTV show Good Bones, or even read about an Indianapolis book-themed dining spot in a feature about five bookstore pubs around the country.

Several resources for newcomers to Indianapolis give a nice overview of the Circle City. You can astound your friends and family as you learn "fun facts" about Indianapolis. The Travel Channel has wonderful photos in its City Guide to Indy. The National Parks Service Discover Our Shared Heritage includes places that spotlight Indianapolis living history. And TimeOut Chicago outlines some of Indy's charms. Some people even consider Indianapolis the best city in America.

Where To Eat from Visit Indy features soul food, bring-in, outdoor dining, donut shops, Farm-to-Table, food trucks, vegan and vegetarian, and steak restaurants. Eater provides 36 of the best local places to eat in the Indianapolis area. Do 317 shares different option for "diet-friendly" restaurants. Gluten Free diners have options too. 

This isn't just local prideTravel Channel and Food Network shows have filmed in Indianapolis, including Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives; Man vs. Food; Eat Street; Top 5 Restaurants; and The Best Thing I Ever Ate.
