LibChat: Logging In

Information about setting up and using LibChat.

Logging Into LibChat

LibChat is tied directly to BUAnswers. Librarians are encouraged to log into LibChat whenever they are "available" for reference referrals. If you do not have a BUAnswers account, please get in touch with an admin (Josh Petrusa, Sally Neal, Julie Miller, Amanda Starkel, etc). 

There are two ways to log into your BUAnswers account.

#1 - Log in via http://butler.libapps.com and select LibAnswers & LibChat from the blue drop-down menu

OR  #2 - Visit http://buanswers.butler.edu/ and click on Log into LibApps at the very bottom of the page

After you Log In

To connect to chat:

After you connect, chat should open in a separate window within your browser.

Monitoring your Queues

When you log into chat, a new tab or window will open for the chat operator. 

 In LibChat, you monitor both your personal queue and any departmental queues you've been assigned. All queues are listed at the top of the page to let you know what you're monitoring. If you do not want to monitor a particular queue, just click on it and it will turn from green to red. You will no longer be "online" for that queue.
