Good illustrations of the Information Cycle:

  • Hurricane Katrina - As time passed and more information was gathered, public opinons about the response to Hurricane Katrina definitely changed.
  • Boston Marathon Bombing - The information changed a lot as it was first released - the number of those injured or killed, the number and names of the suspects. At one point, four innocent people were accused of being suspects.
  • Celebrity Deaths - Though it deals with a sad subject, the process of breaking stories about celebrity deaths nearly always exemplifies the information cycle.
