Iceberg analogy with the world of information (and how the library can help you)

The image above shows an analogy between the world of information and an iceberg.

The Surface Web is the the part of the iceberg above the water and contains information available to everyone online.  However, a lot of information is not available to everyone online.

The Deep Web is the part of the iceberg that is underneath the surface and often costs money to access. Sometimes, items in the Deep Web aren't even available in their entirety online! Library databases are paid subscriptions to particular types of content. This is where that information is typically accessible.

The Dark Web is the scariest part of the web and should be avoided. This often houses illegal content.

This guide can help you navigate Surface Web content and access Deep Web content!
