How to Read Spine Labels
All of the books and physical resources in the Butler Libraries are labeled using the Library of Congress classification. You are probably the most used to spine labels being in the Dewey Decimal Classification System. Like Dewey, the LC system is "nested". That is, you find books using the broadest number/letter first, then each number or letter slowly narrows until you find the exact location on the shelf!
Call numbers beginning with L refer to education related materials. Education Research falls under LB1028, with Teacher Research located in the subsection of LB1028.24.
Physical Education materials are under GV
Health topics are shelved under R.
Education related social science topics are under H.
Some materials dealing with teaching & education are shelved under their specific subjects. For example, Math Education would be with general Math under QA.
The majority of Butler's Children's and Young Adult Literature Collection is located in the Education Resource Library on South Campus (Room 104).
