Special Collections, Rare Books, and University Archives

Materials that relate to the history of Butler University that were not created by or specifically for the institution (e.g. student diaries or journals and papers, faculty papers from teaching and independent research). In addition to institutional history materials, there are also materials that support broader faculty teaching and student research.

Books that are rare due to unique characteristics such as age, number printed, or bookmaking technique. There are also books relating to the history of Butler University, the neighborhoods and communities where the institution has resided over the years, and Indianapolis at large.

Materials that were created by or for Butler University, especially those relating to the institution's operations and history (e.g. board minutes, official publications, ephemera). Materials are also collected from student and alumni groups associated with the institution.
