Panopto Student Guide: Panopto Recorder (PC)

Panopto for Windows Intro

Panopto allows a user to easily record audio, video, and screens or applications with their desktop application. You can launch Panopto by going to butler.hosted.panopto.edu, through the desktop application, or through Canvas. Below details the process of starting your video through these two different ways as well as a short tutorial on how to record with Panopto for Windows.

Process through Panopto Windows

  1.  To install Panopto, login to butler.hosted.panopto.com with your Butler credentials.

  2.  Select "Download Panopto" in the top right below your name. Another option is to select "Create" in the navigation top bar and then select "Panopto for Windows."

  3.  Proceed to download and install Panopto on your device.
     
  4.  Once installation is complete, open the desktop application and select to sign in.

  5.  Your default browser will launch for you to sign in with your Butler credentials.

  6.  Another way to access Panopto is to sign in to butler.hosted.panopto. com and Select "Create" in the navigation top bar and then select "Panopto for Windows."

  7. Record and upload your video!

Process through Canvas

  1. Navigate to your course in Canvas to the assignment you need to submit.

  2.  In the submission page, select the Panopto icon.

  3.  Select the "Record" tab and choose the folder for your video. Choose a title for your recording and select "Launch App."

  4. Record and upload your video!

System Requirements

Operating System: Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 (32 and 64 bit) NET 4.7.2 and above are supported for versions 6.0

Processor: Standard Quality: Intel i3 recommended. High or Ultra Quality: Intel i7 (4-core) recommended

Memory: 4GB RAM

Storage: Standard Quality: 135MB per hour. High Quality: 540MB per hour

Applications: Microsoft PowerPoint 2016 and above (only if recording presentations).

Click-to-run PowerPoint is now supported as of Panopto for Windows 6.0.

Video Devices Supported: USB webcams, DV/CAT5/analog camcorders. HDMI and VGA capture devices.

Analog video devices that output S-Video or composite AV. Digital pen tablets and whiteboards

Audio Devices Supported: Wired and wireless microphones, USB audio devices, and audio devices that use a PC AV capture card
